A Mosaic of Meaning: Sea Glass, Animals, and Storytelling

My animal-shaped pieces: butterflies, owls, turtles, cats, paws, and more, are created using a mosaic technique that embraces imperfection as part of the design. Instead of a single stone, I work with uneven pieces of genuine sea glass, and semi precious gemstones, carefully arranging them inside each bezel like a tiny puzzle. Every piece is chosen for its color, texture, and balance, allowing it to come together organically rather than symmetrically.

To connect the fragments, I fill the empty spaces with fine gold or rose gold-plated wire, which acts like a delicate thread weaving the composition together. This not only adds warmth and contrast, but also gives structure to the design, much like traditional mosaics where grout becomes part of the artwork. Every piece includes natural gemstones such as turquoise, rose quartz, pearls, lapis lazuli, and others, adding depth, symbolism, and subtle sparkle.

Each finished jewel is a wearable mosaic, no two are ever alike. The sea glass carries the softness of time and tide, the gemstones add intention and meaning, and the animal shapes bring symbolism and emotion. To me what results is not just jewelry, but a story framed in metal: a quiet reminder of nature, memory, and connection.
