Did you know that the word 'Jewelry' (and the Spanish 'Joyas') actually are rekated to the word for Joy? đź’Ž Whether it's a bold necklace or a delicate ring, these pieces aren't just 'accessories', they are little fragments of happiness we wear every day. Today, I'm celebrating the many ways the world says 'Adornment.'
In French it is called “bijoux” and it comes from the Breton word bizou, meaning "finger ring”, carrying an air of elegance, craftsmanship, and charm.
In German they call it Schmuck and dervirates from the Middle High German word for "adornment" or "neatness” implying something that polishes or completes a look, the final essential touch.
In Hindu/Sanskrit it is Aabhushan and this beautiful word translates to "decoration" or "ornament”.
No matter where you are in the world, a beautiful piece of jewelry is a universal language of joy. 🌍
