Watching the World Pass By

I’m at the airport today, heading back home from a business trip. I’m at DFW, an airport I have a love and hate relationship with.

Sitting here at my gate, waiting for my flight, I can see a constant flow of people passing by, maybe 50–60 per minute. And somehow, it’s kind of nice just to watch. Men, women, families with kids… it is Spring Break after all. People of all kinds; short, tall, slim, curvy… all skin tones, so many nationalities.

I really enjoy seeing myself as part of this collective, all of us moving with the same purpose: to travel, each for our own reasons.

That diversity is what amazes me the most, especially in an airport like this one, where flights connect to and from everywhere in the world. And it makes me think… what an amazing path I’ve chosen.

To create pieces while imagining this collective as the people who might wear them. Long earrings, round ones, studs, something shiny… or nothing at all. Bracelets or no bracelets. Simple necklaces, short ones, long layered ones, bold pendants or none. It’s all a reflection of who we are in that moment.

And maybe that’s the beauty of it, there’s no single way to wear jewelry, just like there’s no single kind of person in this world.

In the end, what I create is meant to belong to this diversity, to you, to your style, to your story, wherever you’re going next.
