Jewelry Trends : Where Fashion Meets Expression

These past few days I’ve been reading about what’s new and trending in the jewelry world, and honestly… I was a bit surprised by what I found.

It feels like everything is moving away from that “luxury” look and going into something much bolder, more expressive, more sculptural, almost like each piece is trying to tell a story.

One thing I keep seeing is the mix of raw, industrial materials with very polished finishes. Heavy silver chains, oversized pieces that look like hardware: nuts, bolts, but all shiny and refined. They call it “elevated punk,” and it seems to be everywhere in 2026. I’ve come across a few pieces like this while browsing (which I do a lot these days), and while they’re interesting, they feel a bit too bulky for me. That said, I have no doubt that on the right person, someone with presence, they can look absolutely stunning.

Another trend that really caught my attention is jewelry that moves. Pieces that spin or have some kind of mechanical detail. People seem to be fascinated by this, almost like it’s not just jewelry but a small engineering piece you can wear.

When it comes to earrings, it looks like multiple piercings are not the main focus anymore. Now it’s all about asymmetry. And this one I really love. I’ve actually made a couple of asymmetrical pieces for myself, and my husband always comments on how different they look, which I secretly love. I mean… isn’t that part of why we wear jewelry? To feel a little different, a little more ourselves?

And then there’s sustainability, which is growing a lot. Designers are using recycled materials, bio-resins, even lab-grown stones, etc. Last summer, when I was in St. John, I met an artist who made jewelry using local sand mixed with resin. The result was beautiful. People were buying them not just because they looked nice, but because they carried a piece of the island with them, the white sand, the beaches, the memory.

All of these trends are interesting, and they definitely make you think. But at the same time, I don’t believe every trend is meant for everyone. Jewelry is personal. It should feel right to you. Doesn’t it?
