Fashion Jewelry vs. Artistry Jewelry

Today, while reviewing my website with the help of AI, I

realized something interesting. Even though my designs come from my heart and imagination, they are currently categorized as fashion jewelry rather than artisan jewelry, which made me stop and think.

A fashion designer creates accessories meant to be worn and sold, often focusing on trends, wearability, seasonal collections, and market demand.

An artistic designer, on the other hand, focuses more on creative expression and aesthetic impact. Their work may include conceptual pieces, unique handmade objects, sculptural jewelry, or experimental designs.

So where do my pieces belong?

My designs certainly seek uniqueness and experimentation, but they are also meant to be worn. I imagine each piece finding the person who is the perfect match for it. I want them to be part of someone’s life, not simply admired from a distance.

While gallery pieces can be beautiful, art displayed behind glass often feels distant to me. Jewelry, to me, should be touched, felt, and lived with.

The pieces I create are meant for people to wear, women, girls, and even men. They are meant to highlight beauty, complete an outfit, and give the person wearing them a sense of confidence and pride. There is a special connection that happens: first when someone chooses the piece, and then again when they decide to wear it on a particular day. That is when the jewelry truly becomes loved.

So perhaps my work lives somewhere in between , where fashion meets art.

What do you think: fashion jewelry, or artistic jewelry?
